La historia Health us Nepal, el projecte d’en Marc

Marc Boix Bruguera. Doctor Nepalese by birth (1989), at the age of 28 he decides to return to his native region of Nepal and help improve the medical and sanitary conditions in one of the country’s poorest and most isolated regions.

1994

The Orphanage

The timeline of events begins when Marc is taken to the official Bal Mandir orphanage in Kathmandu at the age of five. In the photo, he is the shortest one in the centre.

Marc is the shortest, in the middle.

1995

Adoption

At the age of six he was adopted by the Boix-Bruguera family of Girona, where he studied until completing the International Baccalaureate at the Vicens Vives Institute.

2007

First return to Nepal

In 2007, at the age of 18, he went to Nepal, accompanied by his adoptive father and his younger brother, Dídac, adopted from Mexico, to reunite with his family: his father, uncles and aunts, and cousins. They always say they have very fond memories of their childhood.

2014

The study of medicine

He enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine (at the Hospital Clínic) of the University of Barcelona.

Every summer, once his studies were over, he returned to Nepal.

After completing his medical studies, before sitting the MIR, he spent a whole year in Nepal.

2017

Realisation of the project

He completed his MIR at the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida and, at the age of 28, in 2017, decided to embark on the project he had been mentally preparing for so long.
