Objectives
General health objectives
Humla is a region in the far northwest of Nepal, an extremely isolated area located in the middle of the Himalayan mountain range It is a large region with numerous small population centers and reaching Simikot, its capital, poses significant challenges The only public hospital from the area, located in Simikot, is severely under-resourced and cannot meet the region’s healthcare needs. There is only one pharmacy, which is inadequately supplied.
One of our objectives is to support the hospital’s work by providing free outpatient medical care in Simikot and at strategic points in the area called Health Posts.
Another objective is being able to dispense the medicines needed by the population of this area. Users will pay the full price, a part or nothing according to their purchasing power.
The third objective is to carry out training, awareness, and intervention campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, vaccination, deworming, sexual education, and the prevention of respiratory and infectious diseases—targeting the entire population but focusing especially on the Health Posts For these campaigns we have the support of the hospital’s medical team.
And the fourth objective is to offer support to especially vulnerable groups.
The project aims to build a small, technically equipped clinic with medical staff to provide a more comprehensive level of care than is currently possible.
General educational objectives
The primary motivation and goal of this educational project is to give children from Takla—the village where Marc Boix was born—the same opportunities and prospects that Marc enjoyed, enabling them to study, gain employment, and support their families and community in overcoming poverty
This educational project that we have named NuestroGhar has two very specific actions:
- To take responsibility for the maintenance, studies and education in Simikot of about ten children between 10 and 14 years from various villages in the Takla area, enabling them to complete their secondary education at the Simikot public school These villages only offer primary schooling
- To provide a scholarship for a university student in Kathmandu.
