HealthUsNepal: Marc’s project.

Marc Boix Bruguera. Doctor. Born in Nepal (1989). He decided to visit his homeland and place of birth when he was 28 years old with the objective of collaborating in improving the health-care conditions in one of the poorest and most isolated regions from Nepal.

1994

The orphanage

Everything started when Marc was taken to the official orphanage Bal Mandir in Kathmandu, when he was 5 years old. You can see him at the center of the picture.

He is the shortest boy.

1995

The adoption

At the age of 6, he was adopted by the family Boix-Brugera, from Girona, where he graduated from the International Baccalaureate by Institut Vicens Vives.

2007

The first return to Nepal

In 2007, at the age of 18, he traveled to Nepal. He went there together with his adoptive father and brother, Dídac, who was adopted in Mexico. In Nepal, he was reunited with his family: his father, uncles and aunts, and cousins. He always says that he has really good memories from his childhood.

Career in Medicine

He joined the Faculty of Medicine (Hospital Clínic) from Universitat de Barcelona.

Every summer, once the academic year was over, he went back to Nepal.

Graduated in Meidicine by Universitat de Barcelona. Hospital Clínic, with his adoptive mother and father.

2017

The project becomes real

He did his MIR (Medical Residency) at Hospital Arnau Vilanova in Lleida. When he turned 28, in 2017, he decided to carry out the project that had been on his mind for a long time.
