Marc Boix Bruguera

Director of Project Health us Nepal (HuN)

Doctor. He was born in Nepal (1989) and adopted when he was 6 years old by the family Boix Bruguera from Girona. He got his graduate in Medicine from Universitat de Barcelona. Marc pursued three years of medical residency (until the start of R3 from MIR) in Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation at Hospital Arnau Vilanova in Lleida.

Marc has the Spanish nationality and a Non-Resident Nepali permit (NRN), which facilitates management and administrative tasks.

He is fluent in Nepali, which gives him a great advantage in the association’s work.
On the occasion of the COVID 19 pandemic, the authorities in the Humla region issued him with a medical card so that he could break out of isolation to treat patients from outside Simikot.

In May 2023, he returned to Catalonia after establishing the protocols for the health and pharmacy center. These protocols are sent monthly by the team that Marc put together in 2018, consisting of a nurse, a pharmacist, an administrant, and a warehouse and maintenance assistant. Thus, the members of the team can carry out the assigned tasks.

The communication with the team is permanent and the possibility to manage payments remotely allows the project to move forward. Frequent visits are also arranged to ensure the project’s continuity, either by members of the association or by members of the Board.
